What is a word cloud?

A word cloud is a visual made from the words people submit. The more often a word comes up, the bigger it appears on screen.

You ask an open question. Something like "one word for how last quarter felt." Everyone types their answer on their phone. The screen fills in as responses land, and within seconds you can see what the audience actually thinks.

The value is in the sizing. If eleven people out of thirty type "rushed," that word dominates the screen and nobody can talk around it. A list of thirty answers would bury the same signal. The cloud puts it in front of everyone at once.

Responses are anonymous, so you get the honest version. People will type a word they would never say out loud with their manager sitting two seats away.

It works best with a question that has no correct answer. Feelings, first impressions, and associations all produce good clouds. Factual questions don't. Those belong in a poll.
