What is a word cloud used for?

Word clouds are for the moments when you want the audience's honest reaction, fast.

Openers are the most common use. You ask what people expect from the session, and you get a screen full of expectations before you've said anything substantial. Now you know whether to speed up or slow down.

Trainers use them to check what stuck. Ask for one word people remember from last week's module. If the same term keeps surfacing, the message landed. If the screen is scattered, it didn't.

They work well for sentiment after a change. New process, new tool, new structure. Ask for one word describing how it's going, and you get something a status update will never give you, because status updates get written by people who know their name is on them.

Team meetings use them to surface blockers. A word like "approvals" appearing eight times says more than an hour of discussion. Conference sessions use them to break the wall between stage and seats. People who would never take a microphone will type a word into their phone.

The common thread is anonymity plus repetition. When several people independently choose the same word, that agreement shows up as size on the screen, and it becomes hard for anyone in the room to dismiss.
